I wanted website visibility so I used search engine marketing!

A website is not an island: it exists in the sea of the internet, and you need people to find it. This is especially important because web pages cost money to support and maintain. Revenue is critical, and revenue is tied to visibility. Things like Google adwords, search engine marketing, and search engine optimisation are critical to increasing website visibility, click-throughs, and page views — all of which translate into increased revenue.

Search engine optimisation is the process by which your website can be made more visible and highly-ranked on search engines. Getting to the top of the list of search results is critical for your sight to be seen and not drowned out in the noise of the internet. Things like keyword usage and efficient coding will make your site more visible to Google and Google adwords; search engine marketing is also a highly sought-after tool.

Search engine marketing is focused targeting — paid advertisements to target and hook people using search engines. Google adwords allow web site owners and webmasters to be highly visible to searchers and potential page viewers — for a price. Search engine optimisation is not some silver bullet or some magical elixir that will make your website number one overnight; but you need to do it if your web page or your company is to be seen against the backdrop of thousands upon thousands of sites.

Search engine optimisation, search engine marketing, Google adwords — these are all pieces of a larger puzzle
